Pastor(Dr.) Funso Akinniyi first arrived in Canada in 1977 under the sponsorship of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria, to pursue graduate programs at the University of Waterloo, Waterloo, Ontario. Born and raised in Nigeria, Funso obtained double Masters’ degree in Computer Science and Management Science and a Doctorate in System Design Engineering while Pastor Bim Akinniyi started Masters in Microbiology at the same University but later completed the Business Management Studies program in Conestoga College. While in Canada for about six years they were blessed with three children. Funso and Bim and their three lovely girls moved backed to their home country in 1983 where Bim completed her Masters in Food Technology to work as a Hygienist for Unilever, Nigeria while Funso built a career in Information Technology and they had their last child son. In 1990 and 1993 respectively, Funso and Bim re-dedicated their lives to Jesus Christ at the Deeper Life Ministry and became active in ministry service after joining the Foursquare Gospel Church of Nigeria in 1995 where they both pursued training in Theology by Extension. By divine arrangement, Funso took an early retirement as Head of Information Technology and Research/Planning Departments of NICON Insurance, Nigeria and immigrated back to Canada in 2005 while all their four children had earlier left Nigeria for higher education in North America. By 2008 Funso and Bim got called to full-time ministry and became licensed under the Foursquare Gospel Church of Canada. They are holders of Ministerial Diploma from the Pacific Life Bible College, Vancouver, British Columbia. Funso and Bim enjoy fitness exercises, cooking and traveling while they remain passionate in ministry work and dutifully committed to their family.
